countdown to opening game

the opening night roster has been released, and is available at dump and chase. most noticable is the absence of ben clymer, who was sent to the bears earlier this week. eli resnick at dcist has a nice clymer appreciation. i’m going to be sad to see clymer go, but that’s also because i haven’t watched enough of the preseason to get a feel for the new guys on the team – dave steckel has earned his place on the team, according to the blogerati, but i haven’t yet seen it in person. (at the preseason game earlier this week, i only had eyes for don brashear.)

the thing which excites me the most is not the new forward lines, but the defensemen. mike green, shaone morrissonn, and milan jurcina are all looking sharp, and i can’t wait to see some of the hits they unleash this season.

finally, i loved this sports bog article about don brashear’s post-hockey planning. when i build my cozy retirement cottage, i know what builder to hire….

  1. Thanks so much for the nod. I’m enjoying your blog, too. It’s frustrating to see Clymer in Hershey after all he’s given this team. At least he’s still getting paid NHL money.
