sens 2, caps 1, and still a lot on the bright side
went to last night’s preseason game of senators vs. caps. the caps lost, 2-1, but i was impressed by multiple things at the game, sports and otherwise:
1. ted leonsis was at the entrances, shaking hands and talking to fans. that’s impressive, and just shows how committed he is to meeting the needs of the fans. much appreciated, ted!
2. shots on goal are WAAAAAY up from last year. at the end of last night’s game, it was something like 34 shots for the caps, vs. 14 for the senators. impressive, particularly at the end of the third period, when the caps were relentless in trying to win the game. (the ottawa goaltender was scarily good, blocking solid shots left and right.)
3. not only are the caps’ shots up from last year, they are playing better offense – one reason ottawa couldn’t make that many shots is because the caps were careful to keep the action down by the ottawa goal. nice work, guys.
4. back to non-hockey related stuff – yesterday, the vegan and i took the plunge and bought season tickets. jason, the caps ticket salesman, was friendly and professional, letting us try out the seats we wanted. i’m impressed by the customer service, and i’m impressed by the deals the caps are making to really make it easy for less-than-flush hockey fans enjoy the action. now if only there were vegan food available in the stands…

Welcome aboard as a season ticket holder –and to the blogosphere as well. Go Caps. Ted Leonsis
